The TV Guru
Well, it's happened. Obviously, I knew it would at some point, and we have been teetering dangerously close to the edge for some time now, so it was only a matter of time, I suppose. Amelia can now turn on the TV and find something to watch on her own. Again, I knew this was coming. We live in the most digitally-saturated culture to date, and that will always have a large impact on our children, but I'm not sure that I'M ready for her to be delving in quite yet. Sleeping in the same room means the girls normally get up together. Emma can easily navigate the Roku remote, and she knows what they are allowed to watch. Well, this morning I came down to Amelia (alone) watching the Puss in Boots series on Netflix and devilishly grinning while clutching the remote. For a fleeting second I figured Derek was home, and I just hadn't seen him. I mean, the carton of still cold eggs was on the counter, so he had to have been the one controlling the TV, right? RIIIIIIIIIGHT???
